United States of America Coexist Invisible Illness Awareness Bisexual Pride Horse

What does “The Grey Road” mean? Our paths in life aren’t set in stone, and nothing is clear cut good or evil. Good things can come out of bad situations, and bad things can come out of good situations. For me the color grey reflects the duality of life and the uncertainty of one’s future.

Here are a few points about myself:

  • My name is Courtney.
  • I’m a bisexual, catholic witch who’s disabled.
  • I love dogs, and if my lungs weren’t annoying I’d adopt them all!
  • I enjoy drooling over history, dogs, and architecture. and sustainable living
  • I have a lot of opinions when it comes to being a disabled person in the U.S. and the systems that exist here.

My Faith Journey:

I’m a cradle-born-Catholic who’s always felt a strong connection to the Lord, but not always to the practices of the Church. I’ve always searched out the more obscure teachings as a way to understand the accepted one; I’ve always asked questions, and gotten myself in trouble for it; and I’ve always felt guided by the Lord to not follow blindly the teaching of humans.

My craft is mostly secular, unless you want to consider the Lord as my “deity.” My interests lean towards traditional witchcraft with a focus on native plants [1] and energy use.

Unlike many Catholics I don’t pray to the saints nor to Jesus, only to the Lord. That’s not to say there aren’t any saints that interest me, but I don’t feel comfortable praying to them. Praying to is a form of worship and no matter how the Church spins it, the Lord says not to worship anyone but Him.

The one way you might say I break this rule is with my ancestors. I do talk to my deceased relative and ask them to look over me and my family members. I’ve always felt them watching over me and I do believe that a semblance of the deceased stay with us.

[1] Native plants: Plantation that’s native to where I live. For me that means the east coast United States. It doesn’t mean swiping practices/beliefs from Native Cultures - the American magick community really needs to stop doing this.
